Bursary Student Interview | Marissa Stoffer

Continuing our series of interviews with the beneficiaries of this year’s Bursary Programme, Marissa Stoffer has kindly answered a few questions posed by the Arts Team. Like Seamus, who she now shares her studio with, Marissa recently graduated from the Edinburgh College of Art and is making the most of the space, which is theirs until June.

Resident exhibtion | Ruth Nicol: Three Rivers Meet

Ruth Nicol’s latest exhibition considers the landscapes of the seven great Scottish poets; Hugh MacDiarmid, Edwin Morgan, Norman MacCaig, Sorley Maclean, George MacKay Brown, Robert Garioch and Ian Crichton Smith.

Each of the works are large-scale and together they capture the vast and varied landscapes of Scotland during the current, intense period of national, artistic and cultural self-reflection.

Event | L’Age d’Or – Live Sink Performance

L'age d'or smallerAhead of his gallery residency here next month, Tim Vincent-Smith and his band Sink will be providing live accompaniment to the surrealist masterpiece L’Age d’Or, in a one-off showing in the Filmhouse this Friday night. The film caused a wee bit of a stir (and more than a few riots) when it was first released – it is expected Sink and the Noize Choir will recapture that with this performance..and then some.

Opportunity | Ashurst art prize for emerging artists

arshurstAshurst is pleased to announce the launch of the Ashurst Emerging Art Prize 2015, a new prize for emerging artists in the UK.

The winner, to be selected by a judging panel made up of a variety of art experts including collection directors, critics, lecturers and artists, will receive a £3,000 cash prize and solo exhibition in the Ashurst Emerging Artist Gallery.
