Workshops Arts Anatomy for Art Workshop

Anatomy for Art Workshop
Saturday 22 February - Sunday 23 February 2014 All Day

Anatomy for Artists workshop in St Margaret’s House, on four days over two consecutive weekends 22nd and 23rd of February, and 1st and 2nd of March 2014 (cost £200 for 4 days).

We will examine the individual elements of anatomy, the main skeletal, muscular and structural forms, whilst being conscious of the overall integrity of the body as a coherent system.

Most of the participants time will be spent drawing from life and we will have a life model every day (varying models). The course is conducted through demonstration and explanation, reference to anatomical examples, and with an emphasis on drawing from the life model.  While concentrating on anatomy we will also inevitably touch on more general issues involved in drawing the figure, proportion, perspective etc. We will also take in the broader context of anatomy for artists – its history and development.

Alan McGowan has taught anatomy for artists at The Bristol School of Drawing, The Royal Hibernian Academy (Dublin), The Museum of London, West Dean College, Moray Arts Centre, The Queens Gallery Holyrood, and drawing at Edinburgh College of Art, Duncan of Jordanstone, Leith School of Art and other institutions.
