place + platform, and Edinburgh Palette, present a one-night event showcasing artist film, moving image and performance, featuring brand new work by supported artists ANNELI HOLMSTROM/ MICHAEL KAY / SAM WOOD with live music by EYES OF OTHERS and KING WINE, and yummy home brew sponsored by Brew Store.
This Bring Your Own Beamer (BYOB) will be the finale event of a two-week residency by place + platform at St Margaret’s House supported by Edinburgh Pallette. Place + Platform have invited three artists Anneli Holmstrom, Michael Kay & Sam Wood to create brand new moving image work during the residency that will premiere at BYOB on 16th Jan.
Place + Platform are relatively new kids on the artist collective block. Founded in 2014 by Abi Lewis and Susannah Leake, place + platform does what it says on the tin – they provide a place and a platform for emerging artists to create and present work. Their most recent events have taken place in some unusual places, including Leith Walk’s infamous junk shop The Settlement Projects, which saw around 150 people squeeze into the already crammed venue to check out art, film, music & performance in an informal house-party fashion.
Their BYOB promises to be much the same – a fun cross-platform event, with artist films, music and performance. Sourced from an open call and invited artists, BYOB will host an eclectic bunch of artist films screened on projectors, TVs and tablets to create an immersive atmosphere, with music and visuals by Edinburgh’s Eyes of Others and Glasgow’s King Wine.
