The Bridge Pottery Collective (BPC) was established in 2011 as a home for pottery equipment, including a lustre kiln that was bequeathed by Margery Clinton [1932-2004] to her friend, and founding member of the collective, Alison Robinson.  In 2011, they opened the BPC at St Margaret’s House, an arts facility in central Edinburgh.

Through Alison, the BPC have been awarded Heritage Lottery Funding for their project ‘Scottish Lustre, Keeping the Flame Alive’; which so far has seen the reinstatement of Marjory’s Lustre Kiln and the start of a project to catalogue and digitalise Margery’s glaze notes and samples. The project is a partnership between the Bridge Pottery Collective & Edinburgh Palette (who run St Margaret’s House).

As part of the project the BPC are coordinating a large exhibition (in three parts), paying homage to Scottish Studio Potters, Marjory Clinton and the Story of Lustre…

The Exhibitions will open on the 11th October and run until the 2nd November in the impressive Galleries at St Margaret’s House. This is a fantastic profile-raising opportunity for potters and ceramicists operating in South East Scotland to exhibit together in Edinburgh at a nominal cost.

The three concurrent exhibitions are:
1. Margery Clinton: A Retrospective
(if you happen to have any pieces of work by Marjory, please get in touch)
2. Chasing Rainbows: The Story of Lustre featuring work by contemporary lustre potters (clay paste, in glaze, resinate and raku).
3. Scottish Studio Pottery – celebrating the diversity of work currently being made by Potters and Ceramic Artists working in South East Scotland.

The Open call is for exhibitors for Exhibitions 2 & 3 above.

Deadline for registration: 31st August 2014
Work Drop off: October 4th & 5th 2014
