This is an exhibition of recent, largely introspective, work by three very different artists who have joined forces to reflect on how they perceive their own emotions and the world around them.
Nicky Beckett has been experimenting with woodcuts and mixed media, including words, to communicate and enforce the idea of the amalgamation between the inner and the outer worlds. Her work depicts faces that reveal complex identity.
Jacki Higgs’s paintings and drawings of the coastline and the sea include swimmers, surfers and brightly coloured beach huts as she observes nature and the life around her. On display are also sketch-books of her journeys.
Irina Stancheva works with kiln-formed glass and her brightly coloured glass pieces are inspired by the natural world – plants, animals, microbes and the change of seasons. The shadows and reflections produced by the glass as light passes through it are also intrinsic part of her work.
