EveryBody is Art Project
Monday 1 May - Monday 26 June 2023 10:00am - 6:00pm
St Margaret's House

Your hands, your face, your belly, your back, your feet…. your whole body is art. Your body is a miracle of nature. Nature itself is perfect art.

Do you also see yourself this way?

The cycles of life, birth, ageing, and death are natural. They are still art. Our bodies change. Time marks them, sometimes with a scar from pregnancy or some accident, sometimes with a wrinkle. It is still an art.

Do you see yourself this way too?

We see You this way. And that’s why we invite You to a unique workshop where you also can see yourself this way. You can also meet other women and see that they are just like you, no matter if they are 30 or 60 years old.

The workshop is dedicated to body positivity philosophy and its wellbeing aspect. We are going to explore our boundaries by creating and being an object of art.

The 3-hour workshop will be divided into 3 parts:

  1. Connecting with your own body through mindfulness, senses and relaxation in a group of women. Sharing in a circle of participants.
  2. A life model drawing lesson led by an experienced tutor (it will be the only male in the group :). This will be an opportunity to experience the process of drawing the human body.
  3. The opportunity to be a life model for those who would like to try. It will always be the women who will set their boundaries, not the artists

Women who participated in the workshop will be invited to individual studio, photography and/or drawing/painting sessions.

Women who took part in the individual sessions will receive several works free of charge: digital photographs, drawings/paintings, for private use.

Both artists would like to show in their works the beauty of the body and its relationship with nature. It can be the whole body or just a part of it.

The final stage of the project will culminate in showing a one-week exhibition combined with educational service, showing artwork of both artists and workshop participants.

Therefore, consent will be required to show your image and use it in the artists’ portfolio. However, we can capture you in such a way that your face will not be recognised and your personal information will be confidential. It all depends on your preference. Before we use any artwork publicly, this will be discussed with the project participants.

We welcome all women, whether you are in your 20s, 40s, 70s or from what country you come from. We are fully open to ethnically diverse women.

The only restriction is that the workshops are for women of legal age (18+).

Most of the workshop and sessions will be conducted in practical way, but at least communicative English is preferred for your own comfort.

About artists:
Marcin Krupa
Marcin Krupa is a visual artist, curator and art tutor specialising in figurative sculpture, painting and drawing. Originally from Poland, he is now based in Edinburgh working from his studio in St Margaret’s House.

Artist Statement:
Specialising in painting, drawing and sculpting the human figure, I aim to challenge social norms and taboo around nudity, sexuality and the ideal body presented in contemporary culture. By representing diverse people and body types, my work not only promotes body positivity but creates space for freedom, comfort and a deeper respect for human nature.

I draw from life using nude models however, rather than use the models as objects or muses, we work together collaboratively to decide on the position and pose. This process is an important aspect of the work which treats the model not just as a figurative object but as a co-creator with equal value. I want  to remove the power imbalance of painter and sitter, and create a space which is built upon equality, respect and mutual trust.

Monika Lilia Dolicher (Lila)
I am a visual artist living and working in Edinburgh, Scotland. My main means of expression are photography and performing arts. Femininity, nature and fine arts are a source of inspiration for me. I also try to find a connection between art, well-being and the social aspect of human life. I see art itself as a therapeutic tool that helps to unleash creativity.

Since 2021 I am founder of “Lila Dolicher Photography. Peacock Eye Studio” where I do portraits, boudoir (sensual) and branding photography.

My unique combination of educational and professional paths as a photographer, community arts worker (theatre) and naturotherapist, as well as my experience in project management, gives me a wide range of skills in creative and well-being work.
