December,. In Gàidhlig/Gaelic, the black month, most days adding a further measure of dark onto already depleted light, only near the end is there any sense of the gloom relenting. Gloom? Each winter’s lived experience evokes the emotion but every season’s added layer reasons other ways to approach bleakness.
Such liminality is apt to muddle fallow and dead but does have potential to turn our heads toward earlier re-emergences from beyond expectation. Tasking us to then reflect on gains only possible after seasons of loss.
Live through what can’t be in order to reach what is not yet. Light in the making.
