CALL OUT fashion designers and creatives /fashionABLE fashion show/ Scottish Parliament/ 8th Nov

Dear fashion designers, Hand Up Events and LocalMotive Markets are organising a very special ‘Year of Youth’ fashionABLE fashion show that platforms diversity, integrity, inclusion, equality and empowerment. This non for profit event returns this autumn to highlight that diversity in life does not mean exclusion from the catwalk as people from all walks of life, with different levels of abilities and/or disabilities, shapes and cultures are encouraged to be a part of the show.

After two successful events https://ethical.tv both held in a Edinburgh Waverley Station, this year’s fashion show will take place in the iconic Scottish Parliament (8th of November), that has been chosen to raise awareness and celebrate Year or Youth, as well Global Citizenship and Global Learning. Given the location, attending this event is by invitation only.

With so many talented creatives under the same roof, a few of whom have already taken part of the previous shows and some signed up to participate in this year’s fashionABLE, we would like to spread the word and invite designers who share the above values to join us!

Since it is a Year of Youth, we welcome the designers who are happy to donate their time to teach young people new skills on fashion making through at least a one day long workshop (for maximum of 6 people). Whether it is to create one outfit, or several clothing items, or perhaps accessories, would be up to a designer to decide. The creations will be then showcased during the main event as part of that designer’s collection (6 models to model the collection).

We are looking to film the workshops to showcase them during the Inclusive Fashion Week that will be launched at our artistic hub – St Margaret’s House – Monday, the 5th of November.
It is a feel good, do good event that has inspired many people already and will continue to do so. We have worked closely and still have relationships with several organisations and charities, including Upward Mobility Project (UpMo) and London based Models of Diversity (MOD) whose inspiring founder Angel Sinclair not only attended both previous shows, but also provided our wonderful models with catwalk sessions in Edinburgh. There was a great mixture of professional models, like Jack Eyers (https://www.jackeyers.com/) and Stacy Paris (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMiii5SZhJo) both ambassadors for MOD; and everyday people from all walks of life to highlight diversity of ethnicity, size, abilities and different generations in our society.

Participating in this event will provide young with something very positive and creative to be involved in, and designers with an opportunity to share their expertise and also take their fashion the Scottish Parliament.

We look forward to hearing from you!
