Draw from the body is a solo exhibition of figure drawings by Marcin Krupa.
The selected artworks concentrate on three major periods: life drawing classes at Leith School of Art specifically year 2018, Experimental life drawing sessions in 2021, and most current, drawings done in charcoal and oil pastel.
The first group of drawings are a bigger scale, done on brown craft paper. I used colour pencils and my focus was on the form, anatomy and colour. The experimental drawing sessions are on small scale and the focus is on colour as well as the experience of being there in the space. All participants were taking turns in posing during the sessions. The third group of drawings are on small scale paper. I used charcoal for the short poses. The works are done in colour and involve partial cutting out parts of the background. Through all of my career, drawing has been a crucial element of the practice. Not only as a way of recording moments and analysing my surroundings but also as a way of creating art in its own rights. I like using different drawing tools and techniques, working across mixed-media.
