Textile Adventure Nepal29th March – 13th April 2018

This trip has been carefully planned for those who love textiles and adventure and want to get to know the real Nepal. In a small group of only 8 (including our Nepali guide) we’ll start our journey in Kathmandu where we’ll stay in a very special guesthouse next to the magnificent Buddhist stupa at Boudhanath. From here we’ll branch out to visit local, fairtrade workshops where we’ll be joining the women to try our hand at felting and wood block printing. We’ll also visit some beautiful and fascinating temples, local markets and fair trade shops.

In the second week we’ll fly to Biratnagar in the far East and travel by jeep up into the middle hills to visit the Atpare Rai embroiderers of Santang and the Limbu weavers of Terhathum. We’ll stay in small guesthouses and with local families learning first hand about textile crafts and everyday life in rural Nepal. This is an area of unspoiled, natural beauty, very rarely visited by foreigners. Throughout our stay we’ll be joined by experienced weaver and local guide, Ang Diku Sherpa.
