‘My Space’ Upward Mobility Online Art Auction

We’re hosting an online art auction this winter, to raise funds for our workshop programme.

If you’re an artist, or know any artists who might be interested, you can submit your artwork to the auction and help us reach our fundraising target.

Shadow boxes (one per artist) can be collected from reception on the third floor of Edinburgh Palette, 151 London Road (open 8am-10pm daily). Completed artworks should be returned by 27th October at 5pm.

Young Start Grant for Yoyo Café

YoYo Café has been awarded a generous Young Start grant from the Big Lottery Fund. The award will enable us to open the café for five days a week over the course of 2017, creating more training and work experience opportunities for current and new UpMo students. We are really excited about what this grant will make possible.

Visitors this week – photos

This week we’ve had two special guest visitors to St Margaret’s House – see the photos below.

On Tuesday, Kezia Dugdale, Leader of the Scottish Labour Party, visited for a tour of the building and galleries. She was very keen to learn more about what we do here and the activities taking place on her doorstep.

Today, Wednesday, we welcomed the Director of Creative Industries for Creative Scotland, Clive Gillman, who is tasked with implementing the Creative Industries Strategy 2016-2017. Clive was previously Director of Dundee Contemporary Arts and, being a keen artist himself, is interested in how St Margaret’s House has developed and the many goings on inside the building.

Photos of our Special Guest visits

Last week on the 27th of July, Edinburgh Palette was honoured to show our local MSP, Ash Denham around St Margaret’s House. It was a really positive visit including  taking in Upward Mobility, the Gallery Space, Academy of Realist Art, Edinburgh Judo, and Link Up.
You can follow MSP Ash Denham on twitter to find out more about her interests.

Previously this month we also had Councillor Alex Lunn (Craigentinny and Duddingston Ward) popping in for a coffee and a guided tour of the facilities.

To keep you all updated, here are a few photos of their visits. It’s a great opportunity for us to demonstrate what a hub for innovation and creativity Edinburgh Palette is and raise even greater awareness of the Project in the local area and further afield.
