The online group art exhibition entitled: “#AUGUST”, will be launched on the densely populated – social media – Facebook site (curator profile), via video projection, on Friday, August 21, 2020 at 8 pm.
The exhibition is curated by the Art Historian, MA Journalist and member of AICA Greece, Nikolena Kalaitzaki.
The exhibition is sponsored by the online art magazine Pause as well as MyArtist.
Our very own, Constantine will have work featured alongside 54 other artists.
We have had a great uptake in online gallery bookings. We only have one space left until October! The dates are the 28th August – 11th of September, please get in touch with Marcin to secure this date!

We reached out asking for specific themes for more resident pop-ups and we are happy to announce that the next theme is: figures! Images must be submitted via this link on the website by Friday the 17th of July and meet the following requirements:
If you are unable to edit your images to the above specifications, please let Carly know via email and we will do this for you. Please do not submit images to the website if this is the case. The exhibition will run from the 24th of July – 7th of August if there is enough uptake.
Each image will be linked to your residents directory profile so please populate your contact information and give consent to publish. Again, any problems get in touch with Carly.
People who have personal lived experience of mental health issues are invited to submit artworks to Out of Sight Out of Mind exhibition.
Last year more than 180 people took part and exhibited installations, projections, films, animations, paintings, drawings, sound works, prints, sculptures, and photographs.
You can submit artworks as an individual or as a group. This year one work per person can be submitted. Artworks can be proposed/submitted in any media and be any size. You are welcome to respond to this year’s Scottish Mental Health Art Festival theme which is ‘perspectives’, however this is not a requirement at all.
We are planning to hold the exhibition at Summerhall in Edinburgh during October 2020. The current situation may lead to changes such as its location, date or the exhibition being moved online. If you make a submission, we will let you know about changes.

Out of Sight Out of Mind is a collaborative project organised by a Planning Group of organisations and individuals. It is hosted by CAPS Independent Advocacy, funded by Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership. It is part of the year-long Edinburgh “A Sense of Belonging Arts Programme” and the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival’s year-round programme.

5th December – drop off works to the gallery
6th – setup (Marcin will curate and hang all the artworks)
7th – the market and exhibition open to audience from 11am until 5pm
8th – all works need to be collected
Each artist will have to prepare their own labels with name, title, medium and price. Each artist can bring 2-3 pieces, however Marcin can’t guarantee that all of them will be showcased (depending on how much space will be available). The exhibition is a good opportunity for artists to promote their art so I would encourage everyone to have business cards next to their works with contact details. In case of any purchase artists will have to deal directly with the customer. It’s a good opportunity to talk to potential clients. We don’t take any percentage from sales and there’s no fees for participation. The exhibition is for the tenants only. For any questions artists should contact Marcin via email or pop in to the office.
We require volunteers to help with the invigilation of both galleries, please get in touch if this is something you would be interested in.

Coming Alive is a new body of work by Edinburgh-based artist, Alice Boyle. For many years, Boyle has sketched after daily meditation, creating odd and often distorted creatures that come streaming to mind as soon as the pencil hits the paper. In the spring of 2018 she decided to bring these characters to life, creating a unique world that is as strange as it is familiar.
Boyle’s new work has been inspired by the title of the artist’s previous exhibition, ‘Think Less, Feel More’. While her past show was a comment on the relationship between thinking and feeling and what that might look like, here, Alice has chosen to take a less complex approach, and run with an idea that felt powerful yet simple.
Invitation To Edinburgh Palette
I would like to invite you to a preview launch of Rendition, a radical new work from Tragic Carpet Visual Theatre Company – Friday 13th September in Edinburgh, 10.30am-12.20pm.
Rendition is a potent and immersive installation which uses detailed, up-to-the-minute academic research findings from The Rendition Project to tell the story of one man’s nightmare experience as the first suspect to be taken into the CIA’s detention programme. Freda O’Byrne, artistic director and sole performer, uses an innovative mix of puppetry, soundscapes and theatre to visualise the human rights violations committed by US and UK governments in the aftermath of 9/11 – and explores the juxtaposition between extreme vulnerability and absolute power. In partnership with Freedom From Torture Edinburgh, the preview event will provide the opportunity to visit the installation within the gallery, meet the creative team and view the accompanying immersive performance. Tickets are limited so please register here.
