Volunteers Wanted for Free Yoga Classes!

To support body symphonies teacher training sessions.

Thank you to all who came the last time, it was fab and we really enjoyed the whole weekend.

I am posting the link again in case you wish to sign up for the next two occasions. One is June 18th-19th, the other is July 2nd and 3rd.

Format:  June week-end :The trainees will be teaching one class each, all different classes. I am hiding in a corner not to interfere. We have teas, cake and savoury bits for after to thank you .

July week-end: I will be going around adjusting people, to remind them of what we discussed over the 15th month one last time before they set off. Not ideal if you prefer to avoid touch.

If you have any medical condition that requires special attention, I would ask you to please not join the weekends as they are simply for me to assess general level classes. The rest goes under special workshops and trainings one can choose to do to deepen afterwards. Feel free to e-mail me if in doubt.

Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you at Yoga, Collective at studio 6.02.

Mark Devereux Projects: Dialogues 2022

Mark Devereux Projects invites applications for Dialogues; a 14-week programme of critical exchange, group workshops and one-to-one mentoring for up to twelve artists.

Practicing as an artist can often be a solitary experience – making work, developing ideas and not always knowing whether it is communicating what you aim for. Critique and conversations can be essential in the development of your practice. Dialogues will focus on nurturing your core ideas and ambitions, helping manifest these within the making of your work.

Dialogues is an online programme for artists that may be developing a new body of work, building a new project or working towards an exhibition or commission. Starting in April 2022, each artist will benefit from three group crits, two 1-hour one-to-one mentoring sessions and three group workshops. Experienced mentor and curator Mark Devereux will lead each session; offering tailored and critically engaged developmental support.

Previous iterations of Dialogues have received wide acclaim for the long-term developmental impacts on the participating artists’ practices and careers. Nine artists from the 2021 programme have continued meeting together each fortnight following the programme, with Mark leading crit sessions with the group once a month.

Who can apply

We aim to establish a cohort that represents a diversity of cultural perspectives and artistic practices and welcome applications from a wide geographic spread;
We encourage applications from artists at various points within your career (including artists who may not have received formal art training), working across any medium or methodology. We hope this will help stimulate dynamic conversations with one-another, encouraging sharing and a group support system that could continue on from the project in future months and years;
Taking place online (via Zoom) and avoiding national school holidays, we hope the course will be accessible to those artists that may have parental, caring or other commitments that would affect physical attendance;
We are looking for artists that display a commitment to furthering their practices and long-term careers;
Dialogues is open to artists working internationally, who are able to display a commitment to taking part in the programme and any implications surrounding time differences.

Costs

The full cost for the programme is £420, with payment options available to spread the cost of the workshops across 2-4 months. There is no charge to apply.
Programme

Dialogues 2022 will take place between 21 April – 21 July 2022. Full dates and programme information can be found on the website.

Drawers Off Series 2

Drawers Off is BACK, the show where talented amateur artists get to show the world what they can do in a life drawing competition.

Presented by Jenny Eclair  – The celebratory, fun and encouraging show will once again showcase a broad range of amateur artists as they express themselves and improve their skills, at times using artistic techniques they may not have tried before. Each day they’ll all be aiming their easels at a different near-naked life-model.

Each week 5 artists will start with a blank canvas as they compete over 5 days to create 5 unique pieces. Each day they’ll score each other’s work, and the winner’s creation will be placed in the ‘Drawers Off’ winners gallery. At the end of the week the artist whose work is voted as the best by the group could win up to £1,000.

To apply, all you need to do is click the Etribez link or email the below address.

Lunch-time Pop-Up Event (External)

Would you be interested in doing a lunchtime pop-up event in a corporate building?
We’ve got a big lobby space where you could advertise your brand with some promotional materials like flyers etc. or even sell your product on the spot. All that with no cost.

We are based at Atria One, 144 Morrison Street Edinburgh.
Atria One is occupied by 17 large companies. On average we have around 200-400 employees coming in to work from the office each day.

Pop-ups take place in our lobby area.

It is entirely up to yourself how you want to use the space. You can have a banner, promotional materials, product you want to sell etc. From our side, we can provide a table or a few. However, if there is anything in particular you need, just let me know and we can see what are the options for organising it.

In the past, we had businesses like Hot Yoga, Massage and Glow, Candle and co, Wee bee company, Le Petit Cafe, Pure Gym and more.

In November we are planning to host pop-ups on the 17th and in December on the 8th. Let me know if that is suitable.

Ps. Just to remember… to be in the building you will need to have a valid licence or insurance so you are safe 🙂.

St Margaret’s House Tenants Interviews, The University of Edinburgh

My name is Coll and I’m 4th year Architecture student at the University of Edinburgh and am currently researching for my dissertation which explores secondary use of buildings. St Margaret’s House is an incredible example of utilising a space and creating a thriving economy out of a forgotten building.

The strength, to me, lies in its huge diversity of tenants. I hope to document and understand the nature of the spaces that you all have and your stories and experiences at St Margaret’s House. To do this, I would love to have a chat with you about your experience here and document the space you are currently in, both through a few photographs and, if possible, a 3D LIDAR scan of the room – I’m doing this to get a cross section of the community here in as rich a way as possible. This is by no means prescriptive and I am happy to work with you to best get the information I’m looking for, I also understand that time is precious and so I will make sure to be as quick as possible in chatting and getting the photos/scans, around 30-45 minutes tops!

If you are interested in being involved then please get in touch, my contact details are:
