News “STRONG IS BETTER THAN ANGRY” Short Film Casting Call

Award-winning Edinburgh based filmmakers are casting for a short film about the state of the country, called STRONG IS BETTER THAN ANGRY. The film is a drama-documentary hybrid which asks ‘What makes us, as women, angry?’ Much of it will take place in a body combat style kick-boxing class. This exciting short film has been commissioned as part of a series called ‘The Uncertain Kingdom’ and will be screened all around the country at the end of the year.

We are looking for those who identify as female to perform as themselves in this film. All age groups, ethnicities, sizes and abilities are welcome and encouraged. We want a truly representative group of women on screen to explore what we feel is a timely question. Familiarity with body combat or kickboxing is welcome but not essential, although a certain level of fitness will be necessary. We want to hear about what makes you personally upset, angry or sad – so strong opinions are encouraged!

AUDITIONS will take place on: Saturday 15th June, 12-5pm Venue TBC

And will consist of interviews that will take place on camera.

Selected participants will be needed for:

1.    A day’s workshop where they will learn body combat and be interviewed on camera.

2.    A weekend shoot of the scripted portion of the film – 29th & 30th June.

There will be a stipend for participating in the film.
