Edinburgh School of Music

IMG_1908At ESM, our goal is to instil a love of learning in each students. We are a team of enthusiastic and dedicated teachers with an artistic and hands-on approach to teaching both theory and practice.

We encourage each student to develop an appreciation of diverse musical styles and we strive to instill confidence in each student, giving them support and encouragement to become his or her own unique musician/singer, actor or spaker. Students learn all the necessary skills to pass exams, perform with confidence and compose music, songs and words of their own.

Building bridges between youth within Edinburgh and across the globe through performing arts, social justice and skill-sharing.

We are a group of young musicians between 13 and 24 who meet every week to, collaborate and create a means of cultivating community, connection and accountability. Using theatre and testimony to learn about models for creating social change. We call upon language and critical thinking skill as as tools to develop solution driven citizens of the world. Through music and other performing arts we explore many issues young people are left with today including the effects of social media and bullying at schools, mental health, and inner critics and explore ways to use music to help us to look at deal and overcome them.

Monthly Gigs

First Sunday of every month 3pm – 5.30pm
The Jazz Bar, Chambers Street, Edinburgh

Many of our ESM students, friends and families love these Sunday afternoons, watching the young talent bloom each month. If you haven’t come along yet to one of these events please do so and check it out. It has been a great way our young people to meet and collaborate together and get some great performance experience.
