Fiona Henderson, the adult education organiser for North Edinburgh, is seeking a jewellery tutor to take an evening course at Drummond Community High School (bottom of Broughton Street) . It is a beginner level silver jewellery making course, and anyone interested should contact Fiona directly:

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
No experience is necessary but reasonable use of the hands is required.
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
By the end of the course students will have learned/be able to:
-Several basic jewellery making techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering, texturing,polishing and finishing metals.
-Stonesetting and rollprinting
HOW THE COURSE WILL BE TAUGHT:
Techniques are demonstrated on a weekly basis until students are confident enough to use them to design and create their own pieces of jewellery using copper, silver and stones.
MATERIALS REQUIRED BY STUDENT:
Students will be able to purchase a starter pack on the first day for £6. This will include solder, sawblades, a drill bit, some silver wire and sheet, copper sheet and a stone to set. Students will be required to buy their own materials as they progress, with guidance from the tutor.
Please bring a pencil and a sketchbook.
The tutor will be employed by the council and paid at the set rate of £18.18ph plus 10.29% for holidays which brings it up to around £20ph inclusive of travel, set up and preparation. The money will be paid directly into a bank account in arrears.
