News The Neverending Glen @ The Kelburn Garden Party 2016

KGP16 LOGO COLOUR 2-1 JPEGThe time is soon upon us to head off to the magical Kelburn Estate to set up for the Neverending Glen – the multimedia art trail co-curated by Sophia Lindsay Burns from art hub Edinburgh Palette and The Too Much Fun Club.  Our artists have been busy in production over the last few months and Sophia has arrived on site at Kelburn today to start the process of getting all the artworks installed in their homes on the glen.

We have had the great pleasure of following our artists through their journey and you can read more about the artists exhibiting on the Neverending Glen either via the website or through the facebook page.

Now in it’s second year, The Neverending Glen returns to The Kelburn Garden Party, taking guests on a surreal, enchanting and stimulating multi-media adventure, where contemporary art meets ancient landscape. Once again artists and art collectives, many of whom are based at St Margaret’s House, have been invited to create site-specific installations, sculptures, performances and events, to enhance the audience’s experience of the amazing Kelburn Estate with it’s magical and ancient forestry, mesmerizing views over the Atlantic and astounding location on the west coast.

The Neverending Glen will be open from Wednesday 29 of June in the afternoon, to Sunday 2nd of July 2016. Thursday evening will see the official opening of the Glen with a guided walk tour starting at 6pm – music & spoken word at the Pyramid stage from 9pm. For those wanting to extend their stay at Kelburn, you can buy the Neverending Glen Experience pass, allowing you to arrive from Wednesday afternoon. More info here.

In 2016, the visual narrative will focus on the shamanic and animistic power of the Glen. Time to now retrace the story and mythology of the magical forest. The north side tribe – created and performed by art collective Place & Platform, will reenact and retrace various ancient and tribal rituals as the creatures of the Glen emerge from the forest.  A whale, skeletal birds, nests and various human and organic manifestations will populate the grounds of Kelburn. In the heights of the Glen,The Golden Trailer Collective is setting on a journey: a steel fishing boat from the Black Isle, ‘The Faded Glory’, summits a hill top to make its Kavadi overlooking the sea.

Prolonging the curation of 2015, with a more formal approach – a selection of minimal installations and sculptures in sound and light by Ray Interactive Tim Vincent Smith (Sink) and the Projector Club. Land Art by glass artist David Mola and James Page; Minimal installations by artists Deirdre MacLeod and Fiona Hermse. And that’s just a taste of what is to come at this year’s Neverending Glen.
