Tim Vincent Smith & Fiona Hermse

Friday 20 February | 7pm – 9pm

We are delighted to be hosting Fiona Hermse‘s It Surrounds Me, Part II in our Galleries. We warmly welcome you all to its official opening this Friday evening. An exhibition of site-specific sculptures, mixed media pieces and suspended forms, the first part of the project came about during Fiona’s time at ComPeung, an artist residency in Thailand and the idyllic surroundings she experienced there.

Tim Vincent-Smith‘s Sound Shape residency which began earlier in the week will also be open to all. You can delight in his creative experiments into aspects of sound and shape using gravity, space and chance. These include the construction of a playable cube out of three upright pianos cut in half front and back, large scale pendular carpet painting workshops and a prototype harmonographic projection machine. Pictures of the developing project can be seen here.

All galleries are on our third floor and admission to them is always free. The art centre is located on the main London Road bus route, one stop passed Meadowbank Stadium. Free parking can be accessed via Restalrig Road South, then driving through the carpark of the National Registers of Scotland and into our own. The building is fully wheelchair-accessible, with lifts and disabled toilets.
