Learn to cut your knitted fabric! Steeking is a traditional technique which allows you to knit something in the round that would normally be knit flat. For example, this technique would be used to knit a jumper in the round, then cut down the middle to transform it into a cardigan. Magic! In this relaxed 3 hour workshop Vala will take you through the way in which you secure your knitting, make the cut and finish it off. The 2 swatches will give you the opportunity to try it out twice, time allowing.

Materials Required:

  • 2 stocking stitch swatches in non-superwash wool measuring approximately 15cm square. Please purl 1, knit 1, purl 1 on the middle 3 stitches. This will create a clear channel in which to make your steek
  • Extra yarn for making the steek (at least 20 grams)
  • Crochet hook in the same or similar size you what you used to knit your swatches with
  • Scissors
