Exhibitions Rosemary Taylor – ‘Nothing is Ever Black and White’

Rosemary Taylor - 'Nothing is Ever Black and White'
Saturday 21 June - Sunday 6 July 2014 10:00am - 6:00pm
St Margaret's House

Rosemary Taylor’s seminal exhibition explores landscapes and man-made objects placed within them. Her pared-down pieces are at once beautiful and thought-provoking, as viewers themselves pare down the layers of meaning in her stark palette.

Taylor’s work is noted for its monochromatic colour palette. While at first this seems to strip the landscape back to essentials, this actually adds layers of meaning and ambiguity, particularly regarding the time they were made. These entirely made-up places exist only in the mind of the artist; however, expect to discover landscape paintings of the past in them, in the manner of their proportions and composition.

The exhibition is free to view in Gallery 3 on our third floor, from Saturday June 21st through Sunday July 6th.  Ultimately it is the intrinsic beauty of the manmade that is monumental in the pieces – but nothing is ever black and white.

Opening Friday 20th of June starts at 6.30pm
Open everyday from 10am-6pm
