Edinburgh Palette has invited the TMFC to a 3 week residency in their Galleries at St Margaret’s House themed around the collective creation of murals offering the public a new insight into its creative process. It will offer the Edinburgh based art collective a space to create together and with the public through workshops, exhibiting artwork, and to set up a pop up shop.

The TMFC artists have always united their styles and individuality into creating big illustrative, playful murals, often showing colloquial characters with a jovial surrealism in an eclectic style. You may be familiar with the TMFC work after their 24 meter long collective mural in Gallery 1 in January 2016 and their collaboration with Edinburgh Collage Collective  in the building later that year, so the Edinburgh Palette sought to invite the collective again.

During their residency they will start planning a large mural for the gable end of the St Margaret’s House building, getting inspiration from the rich creative and community centred environment of the building. The residence will offer an amazing opportunity for the public to participate in mural workshops, the content of which will be exhibited and also used as inspiration for the gable end mural project.

The collective will exhibit individual and collective artwork. The public will have the chance to discover the process of the collective creation of a mural through the exhibition from drafts to pictures of final mural, from individual to collaborative work; a projected mural and a wall mural.

The TMFC artists will also show live art in the form of making a mural to an audience, giving an insight into the collaborative process.

The Too Much Fun Club is an Edinburgh based visual art collective that has evolved significantly since its conception in 2009. What started as a small group of artists creating artwork live at friends’ events, is now a well established creative network of more than 40 artists, with members and connections worldwide. The collective is currently in the process of becoming a community arts charity, offering workshops and activities to people who haven’t had chance to connect with art before. The TMFC covers a diverse range of skills and styles, specialising in Illustration, Murals, Live Art, Graffiti, Installations, Festival Decor, Photography, Animation, Projection Mapping and more. The clue is in the name, art is and should be fun.
