Artist Bio
This is the first exhibition by Chalmers Smith and coincides with a ‘big’ birthday. Around 9 years ago, after retiring from teaching, he embarked on a number of art courses at various institutions in the Edinburgh area and, from there, developed work in painting, drawing, printmaking and photography. Lockdowns, due to Covid, offered a rare opportunity to do concentrated spells of work which was both productive and enjoyable. He had a studio in Cockenzie House for a number of years but moved to a studio in Edinburgh Palette in 2021. He continues to experiment and develop ideas using a range of mediums.
