Human Blues | Anna Glantz and Tam Hare
Saturday 24 January - Sunday 1 February 2015 10:00am - 6:00pm
St Margaret's House

Private view | Friday 23, 6.00 pm – 9.00 pm.

Anna Glantz and Tam Hare warmly invite you all to Human Blues.  It will run in Gallery 2 of St Margaret’s House.

Their exhibition will visually explore the connections between the self, collective identity and modern culture, and the “weird and not so wonderful” feelings that arise when these disconnect.

Anna is a Swedish-born painter and printmaker whose work investigates notions of displacement in relation to ideas related to ‘being’, belonging and remembering.  Touchstones from her childhood and Nordic culture often resonate in the ‘real’ sites she depicts; she also layers in fictional elements into these images, in order to to visually express her own feelings of displacement.

Tam is a visual artist and writer whose work is principally photographic and camera-centric.  His practice, whether visual or written, is used for scrutinising thoughts, feelings, dreams and incidents.  These often take root from the ideas of societal and ideological conditioning, and centre upon the landscape; crucially, both natural and cultivated environments inspire, and often appear in, his body of work.

Anna and Tam last exhibited together in Edinburgh in 2011’s Migrate, a critique on notions of migration and borders that was part of the International Festival.  We hope you can join us in welcoming them.  Their exhibition manifesto is published below.  Alternatively, you can download a pdf version here.
