Relax and have some creative fun with an old or unloved piece of furniture that’s needing a new look. Guidance from an experienced tutor through out.

Our furniture painting class is a great opportunity to relax and have some creative fun with an old or unloved piece of furniture that’s needing a new look. We reckon you’ll be amazed at what a lick of paint can do bring a piece back into style and make it lovable again!

You’ll be welcomed into our studio, a creative space with a friendly and supportive environment. We’ll guide you through the process of furniture painting, including giving you our hints and tips on the products that we prefer using, how to improve your brushwork and how to avoid and fix the common mistakes that happen when you’re painting furniture.

Please bring a small item of wooden furniture to paint or you can pre-order a piece for £20 and we will source it for you e.g. a small side table, coffee table, magazine rack, dining chair, small cabinet or a stool.

What will you do in this class?
During the class, you’ll learn how to prepare your furniture for painting and about the different types of paints that can be used. You’ll mix up your own chalk paint and we’ll help you practice and refine your brush work skills.
You’ll learn the basic techniques required to achieve a clean, finished look for your furniture. For those interested in the shabby chic look, you’ll be shown how to distress your furniture and how to use two tones if you want to work with a couple of contrasting colours. If you want a more funky or retro look, we can show you how to use masking tape to create colourful designs. Finally you’ll finish and protect your furniture with a soft furniture wax or a varnish.

Why take the furniture painting class?
You’ll gain access to paints, brushes, waxes and varnishes and can experiment in a friendly and supportive environment. This is a relaxed and social class.
Learn from our experienced tutors knowledge, experience and helpful tips, including the most common mistakes and challenges that furniture painters face and how to fix them. Best of all you get to transform a transform a piece of your furniture and see how others transform their pieces too.

By the time you finish our furniture painting class, you’ll be fully equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to confidently use the paints and waxes on your own to upcycle more furniture. Be warned… furniture painting is addictive!

Light refreshments will be provided on the day and you are welcome to share our vegan lunch for a small donation.
You’ll also be given the remainder of one small pot of chalk paint that you’ve mixed and instructions to take home with you. Join us and learn more about the art of upcycling!
