Workshops Arts Felt making with Heather Potten

Felt making with Heather Potten
Saturday 3 May 2014 2:00pm - 5:00pm
St Margaret's House

Felt artist  Heather Potten based in Studio 4.09 of St Margaret’s House, seeks to use natural materials to create works of beauty  as well as to re-use materials as far as possible. Her love of felt making is inspired by the limitless spectrum of colours and textures to work with, the freedom to experiment and the versatility of the medium: the fact that she can make a wall hanging, a lightweight garment or a strong, functional bag from exactly the same materials.

Heather is a respected resident and friend to many in St. Margaret’s, and we are especially pleased that she is offering visitors the opportunity to experience the magic of felt making in a collaborative workshop during our Spring Open Doors event.

So why not come along and get involved. With Heather’s guidance, learn how to work with merino wool tops, silks and yarns to create your own colourful, tactile felt flowers to add to Gallery One’s Flower Wall….which will be there for all to enjoy until the 18th May.

For those participating, there will be a Materials Fee of £5 plus the opportunity to join Heather’s mailing list and participate in her upcoming workshops at St Margaret’s House. The studio she shares with fellow artist Sue Horsburgh will also be opened to the public during the weekend.
