Saturday 15 March, 2014 - Sunday 23 March, 2014
10:00 am - 5:00 pm
Normally the third year painting exhibition is held around the balcony of the sculpture court at college. This poses certain difficulties because of the limitations of the space, meaning generally large work cannot feature in the show, so this year ECA decided on a change of venue to give students a bit more space to exhibit their work.
St Margaret’s House presented itself as the ideal location, because of the combination of large areas of wall and floor space and as the digital work could be viewed in more appropriate surroundings- within the fully equipped projection room that St Margaret’s has to offer.
The third year painting students tend to approach their practice in many diverse ways and although the majority of them make paintings, there are a number of students working with construction and digital media, pushing at the boundaries of the traditional view of painters practice and use of materials. There are over 50 students participating in this event and the range and quality of the work is guaranteed to make it a fabulous exhibition, forcing the general public to confront the traditional view point on what is considered ‘painting’ and all that it may encompass.
Opening Friday 14th of March, 6pm
St. Margaret’s House, 151 London Road
