CONTEMPORARY COLLAGE: A cut and paste masterclass
Sunday 22 September 2019 1:00pm - 6:00pm
Teacher: Lewis Burden
Suitable for: All levels
Price: £30 per person
Location: The Drawing Room, St. Margaret's House, 151 London Road

Join boom saloon on Sunday the 22nd of September for a very special collage making workshop, as part of the Edinburgh International Magazine Festival.

We’ll be joining forces with hand cut collage artist Lewis Burden to teach the basics of collage making – covering everything Lewis wishes he’d known from day one alongside a wealth of handy tips and tricks. The workshop will also touch on one of the publishing industry’s biggest issues: waste. We’re delighted to collaborate with Magfest to utilise a selection of Scotland’s finest magazines as source material, showcasing their potential for creating lasting works of art to cherish forever.

The afternoon will begin with a talk from Lewis and a discussion of his work to date. From here, he’ll teach a series of basic techniques which will be practised before we begin our final collages. All levels of experience are welcome and we’ll be teaching a range of different techniques and approaches to collage making. Refreshments will be provided in the afternoon and all materials required are included. All profits raised from this event will support the next boom project, which will use filmmaking to give a voice to overlooked and underrepresented young people in Berlin.

Please note, this workshop will involve the use of sharp implements; by attending you accept all risks associated with their use.
