Wednesday 12 August
6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Learn how to make Beeswax Food Wraps and go home with a new skill, 3 wraps and feeling empowered to cut down on your plastic use.

What are beeswax food wraps?
They’re a natural eco-friendly alternative to cling film and tin foil for wrapping food, cheese, bread, covering bowls and jars. Perfect for school lunch boxes and food on the go. They keep food fresh, are naturally anti-bacterial, can be reused, refreshed and composted at end of life.
Your upcycled cotton wraps will be made using organic ingredients: beeswax, jojoba oil and tree resin.

What will you do at the workshop?
We have done all the hard work so you don’t have to. Rose will guide you step-by-step through choosing fabric, the ingredients, applying the wax mixture, setting, finishing and maintenance. By the end of the workshop you’ll be making wraps like a pro. It’s learning in a social, fun and relaxing way with like-minded people.

Why take a beeswax wrap workshop?
If you’re looking to reduce your carbon footprint, reduce waste to landfill, reduce chemical-laden plastic food packaging or looking for ways to become more zero waste then this is for you.

Rose has trained over 1000 people to make their own wraps with her tried and tested recipe and method. If you would like to arrange your own private group, she is happy to host groups of 6 – 12 people at her studio or will travel to you. Larger groups can be accommodated.
Lets banish cling film from the kitchen and benefit our health and the planet.
This is a fun and educational creative experience.

Gather and Woodcarving with Wieteke

Sunday 11 October
10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Walk, gather, learn and carve your own crochet hook(s) with Wieteke on Sunday 11 October at 10am – 4pm.

Wieteke’s workshops are not average workshops. They take a little longer because Wieteke goes the extra mile by taking you into nature to cover the whole process from finding materials to finishing your product. While taking you into nature she’ll tell you beautiful stories, share knowledge about the flora and she will show you how you can collect the perfect wood yourself without harming nature.

The workshop starts with a walk in nearby nature (Holyrood Park, and accessible via the path). After the walk we will dive into the workshop space where Wieteke will
demonstrate the wood carving technique. After the instructions you get to practice woodcarving and you’ll be making your own crochet needle from fallen wood. You will leave the workshop with one or more self-made crochet needles
and sufficient knowledge to independently apply the technique of collecting materials in nature and wood carving the found materials into unique crochet needles that are a joy to use.

Lunch is included and will be provided by the always lovely Art and Vintage Cafe.
