Step into a new way of refreshing your mark making through a series of experimental workshops that ask you to engage with a mixture of mediums in a mingling of disciplines.

Going back to basics, we’ll cover a range of experimental techniques that enliven your practice, helping you to recharge, and breathe some fresh air into your mark making this Spring 2020.

These sessions will include; life drawing, portraiture, monoprinting, movement sessions, projection session, group crits, music, working from still life and colour. Using a variety of materials; inks,charcoal, chalks, oil pastels, conte, graphite and some three dimensional materials. Processes will include; blind drawing, tactile drawing, continuous line, responding to music, light and feeling.

All materials provided but you may need to bring with you; a shirt for messier sessions, a portfolio/way to transport your work, to ensure work can be taken safely away with you after sessions.

Course Content:
Session 1- Introduction to Mark Making and mixed media- Still Life
Session 2 – Movement and Music
Session 3- Print Making
Session 4- Portraiture and Emotion
Session 5- The Figure
Session 6- Colour, Collage and Animation
Session 7- Projection and performance- Mark Making with Light
Session 8- Plaster play- abstract session- Contemporary Fresco.

Please note;
This class requires a minimum of 8 people to run. In the event of the class not obtaining the minimum requirement, you will be refunded.Some small details of this course may be subject to change and the tutor reserves the right to change aspects on a case by case basis.

Miniature Landscape Embroidery Class

A new class for the Edinburgh Sewcial Club.

This class will teach you basic embroidery stitches to create beautiful landscape art – whether you are in the studio, at home, hiking, out and about or traveling you can create gorgeous memories of scenes – an amazing keepsake or gift – a fabric postcard!

A social class where you will meet lots of other creative folks looking to learn new skills.

Tutor, Beth, will share her embroidery and travel experiences whilst teaching you stitches, composition, colour blending and more!

All materials are included as well as tea, coffee, light snacks and hoops to take your beautiful landscape design home.

Cable Knitting

Have you ever been amazed by a jumper full of cables and texture? This technique is traditional, stunning and makes for a cosy garment or accessory. You will work on a cowl in the round with cables and learn how to knit this beautiful texture from a chart.

Materials Required

100grams of Aran weight wool
5.0mm cicular needle (40cm)
Cable Needle
Stitch marker
