The Beginners sewing course XL is an extended version of the classic Beginners sewing course. It is a 6-week evening course, so there’s two extra projects to make. This extra sewing practice makes a huge difference to your sewing skill and confidence.

It is a good starting point to learn expert sewing techniques whether you want to progress into dressmaking, soft furnishing or craft projects. It’s also a great refresher if you’ve not sewn for a while. You’ll learn how to understand sewing machines, get experience of using different stitch types, learning about stitch lengths, widths and tensions. I’ll explain what the different presser feet are for and you’ll learn how to measure and cut fabric.

This course will start with the basics of yoga, teaching you the foundation asanas. Iyengar yoga is a classical form of yoga which teaches the correct alignment of the body through asana practice. This course will build from week to week, taking you safely from simpler poses towards the more challenging asanas. Iyengar teachers have all completed extensive training and we know how to adapt poses and use equipment so that everyone can progress safely.

Regular practice of yoga can help with back or joint pain, anxiety, depression and most minor health conditions. It usually takes a few classes to feel these benefits but you will probably notice a feeling of lightness and calm from the first class.

The 6 week course costs £50. The class is on Wednesdays, 6 – 7.15 pm. It is best to attend each week of the course but if you miss a class, you can attend another suitable class within the 6 week block (the pass expires after 6 weeks). There will be a follow on 6 week course directly after this one, to give you the opportunity to continue.
Yoga Now studio is on the 4th floor of St.Margaret’s House. The teacher, Izabela, speaks English and Polish.

What are beeswax wraps?

Beeswax wraps are a natural eco-friendly alternative to cling film and tin foil for wrapping food, bread, cheese, sandwiches and covering bowls and jars. Perfect for school lunch boxes and keeping snacks fresh when you’re on the go. They keep food fresh, are naturally anti-bacterial, can be reused, refreshed and are compostable.
The cotton wraps are made using organic ingredients: beeswax, jojoba oil and tree resin.

What will you do at the workshop?
Experienced tutors will guide you step-by-step through mixing ingredients, application, setting, finishing and maintenance. By the end of the workshop you’ll be making wraps like a pro.
It’s learning in a social, fun and relaxing way with like-minded people.

Simply Singing

Simply Singing is an opportunity to sing with a friendly group, the emphasis being on fun. We sing songs from all over the world. There is no need to read music and there is no need to be a brilliant singer.
