Relax Kids and Chill Skills offers fun activity classes to help children manage anxiety and emotions while building self-esteem and confidence. Relax Kids Classes are starting back at St. Margarets House Meadowbank in October.

The next Relax Kids/Chill Skills sessions will be running from Panda Yoga Studios 6.28 St Margaret’s House 151 London Road EH7 6AE starting in October.

• 9+ year-olds 11.00-12.00 Chill Skills is ideal for kids that are transitioning up to the upper end of primary or onto high school.

Cushions with Zips & Piping

Shop-bought cushions can be expensive but why pay out when they are actually quite easy to make. Learn how to make professional looking cushions with zips and piping to match your furnishings and you’ll never need to buy a cushion again.

I’ll show you how to sew in a zip – a foundation sewing skill.

Then we’ll look at a variety of decorative details such as piping, frills and flanges.

Piping is covered in bias binding so the workshop will include how to make your own bias-binding too. That way it’ll coordinate with your other fabrics.

Or you can use shop-bought.

Then you’ll design and make your own cushion cover.

Who is this aimed at?
Intermediate sewists. You need to have confident sewing machine skills.

What will I learn?

This workshop will cover:

measuring & cutting your fabric
inserting a zip (standard lapped-style zip or a concealed zip)
making your own bias binding to coordinate with your cushion fabric
adding the piping
completing the cushion
finishing touches to give a professional look to your unique cushion
Course arrangements
You will need to bring your own choice of fabric and cushion pad. I’ll advise you what you need to bring once you’ve booked.

Christmas Embroidery Workshop

Learn various embroidery techniques and stitches and create a beautiful festive embroidered design which can be hung on the tree.

This would make a lovely, personal present for Christmas too!

Beginners Sewing Course

Thursday 6 December

Thursday evenings 7pm-9pm for 6 weeks

This Beginners Sewing Course is a good starting point to learn expert sewing techniques whether you want to progress into dressmaking, soft furnishing or craft projects. It’s also a great refresher if you’ve not sewn for a while. You’ll learn how to understand sewing machines, get experience of using different stitch types, learning about stitch lengths, widths and tensions. I’ll explain what the different presser feet are for and you’ll learn how to measure and cut fabric.

I’ve been sewing since I was a child and that’s a lot of years experience. During that time, I’ve made every mistake in the book and learnt how to avoid them. Now you can benefit from my mistakes and learn to sew like a pro as I share my expert tips. I wish I’d known all this stuff when I started to sew.

Boogie Bounce

The Boogie Bounce Xtreme programme is FAB, FUN, FUNKY AND FAT BURNING. It is a complete exercise programme on a mini trampoline, with a safety bar, choreographed to chart-topping inspiring music which includes an extremely effective cardio section, and really powerful bums, tums and thighs section too! Every muscle in the body is worked. EVEN THE FACIAL MUSCLES!

Boogie Bounce uses High-Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T) techniques to maximise the most effective fat burning process in the cardio section, whilst using the pliable surface of the mat to perform a range of core stability exercises, thus engaging more of the deep core muscles. The programmes have been a hit since 1996 with countless success stories from regular attendees amazed at the ‘all over’ health and fitness results achieved.

Our 45/50 minutes classes are designed to promote a fun, party-like atmosphere with inspiring music. Our instructors are all qualified and understand the different fitness needs of an individual and want to encourage all shapes and sizes and all walks of life to our classes. Our instructors tailor their classes to suit their attendees and are highly motivational in helping individuals achieve their long-term fitness goals.
