Beginners Sewing Course

Fast-track your sewing skills on this 4 week course on Thursday evenings.

Learn how to use a sewing machine confidently and some foundation sewing skills.

How to use a sewing machine safely and confidently
How to wind bobbins and how to thread a sewing machine
Understand the mysteries of correct thread tension
How to sew perfect straight lines, smooth curves and turn corners
Learn three different seam types and when to use them
How to take up a hem
Make machined buttonholes and how to sew in a zip
Make a lovely craft project to gain experience measuring, cutting and sewing fabric.

Plus the course is packed with expert sewing tips from a lifelong sewist. This course is excellent preparation if you’d like to move onto dressmaking, soft furnishing or general craft sewing.

Make a silver spinner ring

You will learn how to size, cut, file, texture, shape and solder silver sheet and wire, enabling you to make at least three rings which, when put together, create a tactile and unique spinner ring.
