residency - Create to Move

Create to Move: Residency

Saturday 14 July - Sunday 29 July
12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

(visitors welcome when Gallery 2 doors are open)

Artist collective Create to Move will use Gallery 2 for a research and development residency.

The root of our research stems from three fundamental topics:

  1. AI and Technology
  2. Essence of Human Nature
  3. The Natural Environment.

We’re interested in where these topics intersect.

Physicality of touch, making and movement vs AI & technology.
In an increasingly computerised, urbanised and mechanised world, seemingly on the brink of an AI revolution, what are the values of nature, and creativity? As artists we share certain responsibilities to help to preserve the ways in which we express our humanity; through dance, making, play, craft and art. How is technology currently affecting us and how could it shape our futures?

Preview: Friday 13 July 7pm – 9pm

The current show gently references Eastern thought systems and life experiences.

These experiences and thought systems create a fine, almost invisible, but essential thread throughout the show.

About the artist

“What are you studying?”

She says leaning forward towards the glass box peering through

the wee hole.

“Painting”

I say crouching down to the tellers level

“Oh, how fabulous, I would love to able to paint,

 what do you paint?”

Still, to this day, I have no answer.

I think. I feel. I question. I make.

no linear process, no endings, no beginnings, only movement, a cycle.

just as life.
