Relax Kids

Relax Kids offers fun activity classes to help children manage anxiety and emotions while building self-esteem and confidence. Relax Kids Classes are starting back at St. Margarets House Meadowbank in February.

The next Relax Kids sessions will be running from Panda Yoga Studios 6.28 St Margaret’s House 151 London Road EH7 6AE starting in April.

• 5-8 year-old 10.15-11.15 Starting Sun 22nd April Magical Adventures
• 9-12 year-olds 11.15-12.15 Chill Skills is ideal for kids that are transitioning up to the upper end of primary or onto high school.

Advanced and Intermediate Classes SKILL CLASS.

Tuesday 19 June

This workshop is available for those who have done a course and want to develop their own project under expert supervision.

You can book packs of 5 sessions (five Tuesdays). It doesn’t need to be correlative but you have to use in maximum 5 months from the first session.

There is also a limit to the size of panel which can be undertaken due to storage space.

Primary Art Club

Tuesday 19 June

Come along and try out new artistic techniques and materials inspired by the work of a different artist each week. In class we do a range of 2D and 3D sculptural projects and work in groups and on individual pieces. This summer term we will be looking at ‘Art for Peace and Justice’, contributing to an exhibition of origami cranes and working on a mural in our G5 studio.
Primary Art Club is open to any children aged 4-12 with all materials a drink and snack provided. Class costs £6 per class with termly booking advised as places are limited. Sessions are taught by arts engagement officer Poppy Richards who works across Edinburgh in community arts organisations and galleries. Poppy has a full PVG disclosure, first aid and child protection training.

Pilates Classes

PILATES 4 ALL by Clare Shillinglaw

I run fun and friendly Pilates classes held in the Drawing Room, 3rd Floor on Tuesday evenings 5-6pm.

Pilates is amazing for improving posture, balance, flexibility and easing any muscle and joint niggles. Regular practice can help you build long and lean muscle, strengthen the core from within and relax the mind. It is suitable for a wide range of people, from beginners to professional sportspeople, and including pregnant women and seniors so please come along!

Children's Textile Group

Tuesday 19 June
5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

This is a new class where children can learn and try our a range of textiles techniques. We will have a go at dyeing, printing, weaving, felting, knitting and sewing. Children will be encouraged to create their own projects and experiment with textiles creation so they have the chance to make things of their own design with the guidance of the tutor and using techniques they enjoy.
Classes are led by Poppy Richards, an arts engagement tutor and costume design graduate with a full PVG disclosure and first aid and child protection training.
Sessions are prices at £6 per session with all materials and hot chocolate provided! Spaces are limited to 6 children, please contact poppyrichards.art@gmail.com to book a place.

2 Week Introduction to Sewing

2 week Introduction to Sewing: Tuesday 12th & 19th June

This practical sewing course will help you become familiar with the basics of machine sewing and help you build your confidence using a domestic sewing machine before moving on to a simple sewing project after which you can graduate onto another intermediate course offered by Edinburgh Sewcial Club.

Iyengar Yoga - Level 1

7:30 pm - 8:45 pm

This class is suitable for beginners and those wishing to study the basic asanas (poses). In Iyengar yoga, we begin by learning the correct alignment in the basic poses and build on these as we introduce more challenges to the practice. During the 11 week term, we will learn standing and seated asanas, twists, forward bends, balancing and inversions. Props (bricks, chairs, blankets etc.) are used to assist us to understand the basic actions required in each posture which will allow us to develop our practice.
All of our teachers have completed a minimum of 5 years’ training and continue to train with senior teachers.
