Our classes are fun and friendly. They introduce different artists and techniques each week, This term we are focusing on colour and pattern in modern art. Children use a variety of materials and are encouraged to further their ability and imagination. Class sizes are small (between 8-15 children) allowing us to spend time with each child and welcome all abilities. Classes are led by Arts Education Tutor Poppy Richards who works across a

Learrn to make beautiful clothes for your children or as a lovely present.
During this 4 week class you will learn all about dressmaking, adjusting patterns and how to make versatile and unique clothing for your child.

- frilled hems
Why not also up-cycle old clothes to make more personal too – dad’s old shirts make fab summer dresses, mums dresses and skirts too – helps keeps costs down too!

Ray interactive creates interactive installations. At St Margaret’s House, they will be working towards building a multi sensory interactive space for you to come and play in. You will be experimenting with interactive synthesised sound, light and visuals, triggered by objects, midi interfaces and motion detection.

A 3 week, Visual Audio Hub within the 3 galleries at St Margaret’s House – a residency between 3 AV artists to explore experiment and dive into the realms of lights visuals and sounds to develop immersive experience art forms.
The start of a collaboration to give space and time to three AV artists who normally meet and work on events in the music industry. The short timescale of Festivals and music events makes it always difficult for visual artists to test and develop their art forms, the set-up is short and the opportunity for musicians to have pre-production work rarely occurs.
This 3 week residency will be the opportunity for each artist to share and use the 3 galleries setting up their own installations inviting musicians and other artists to collaborate and todevelop particular aspects of their practices.

Let your creativity flow, learn how to paint your furniture! This class is a great opportunity to relax and have some creative fun.
You gain access to paints / brushes / waxes and can experiment in a friendly and supportive environment without making expensive mistakes. Best of all you get to transform a transform a piece of your furniture and gain the confidence to upcycle more furniture.

This practical sewing course will help you become familiar with the basics of machine sewing and help you build your confidence using a domestic sewing machine before moving on to a simple sewing project after which you can graduate onto another intermediate course offered by Edinburgh Sewcial Club.

Learn how to wet felt using merino wool tops in a variety of vibrant colours then fashion into jewellery, wall hangings, book marks and more!
Work further into the felt trapping fabrics, lace, ribbons into the felt and using hand embroidery and free hand embroidery to build textures and layers to your design.
