Our classes are fun and friendly. They introduce different artists and techniques each week, This term we are focusing on colour and pattern in modern art. Children use a variety of materials and are encouraged to further their ability and imagination. This exhibition brings the 4th year painters at Gray’s School of Art out of their studios and into a gallery space together for the first time. The students are all painting undergraduates, but this is a diverse group with a range of media on show including video, sculpture, drawing and painting. They have been wholly responsible for organising and presenting this exhibition which has required collaboration, cooperation and a degree of compromise from all involved. All skills that will help the students in their professional life after Art School.

Know Your Overlocker aims to teach you how to use an overlocker to enhance your sewing projects.
Overlockers are amazing machines that can stitch, trim and neaten seams all in one operation. Yet so few owners fully understand them or use them to their full potential. Most people who have overlockers only use them for neatening edges but they can do so much more. This short sessions teaches you to get to know your overlocker.
Other functions include sewing in elastic and lace trims, creating decorative seams on sports and casual-wear, rolled hems on evening wear, and making home furnishings. Not to mention being able to sew up jersey fabrics quicker and more neatly than your normal domestic sewing machine.

Our classes aim to be fun and informative. They also aim to help children find materials and techniques that they really enjoy using to create art.
Each week, children will be introduced to a new artist and different ways of making. Using these they will be encouraged to explore their skills and imagination.
6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
This dress making class is ideal for someone who has intermediate dressmaking skills, you should be comfortable using a sewing machine and have made simple projects such as cushions or bags.
Key skills learned throughout this course:
- Measuring, adjusting and pattern cutting
- Fabric Properties & grain lines
- Seams, garment construction, pleats, darts, sleeves and pockets (depending on pattern and style chosen)
- Fitting a concealed zip
- Hemming and finishing
Class sizes are kept small to ensure everyone has plenty of attention and guidance and there may be a small amount of homework required each week.
By the end of this course you will have a fabulous made to measure dress, skirt, trousers, jacket etc. and will be able to follow a dress making pattern to make many more clothes for yourself.
