Children use a variety of materials and are encouraged to further their ability and imagination. 6 Week Dressmaking Class

This dress making class is ideal for someone who has intermediate dressmaking skills, you should be comfortable using a sewing machine and have made simple projects such as cushions or bags.

Make any garment you like – a dress, skirt, waistcoat, jacket, trousers whatever you like! – bring along your own pattern or use one of many patterns in the studio.

Introduction to Sewing Class

This practical sewing course will help you become familiar with the basics of machine sewing and help you build your confidence using a domestic sewing machine before moving on to a simple sewing project after which you can graduate onto another intermediate course offered by Edinburgh Sewcial Club.

Stained Glass day classes - Improve and advance.

Tuesday 6 February
10:00 am - 1:00 pm

On this course you will develop your own stained glass project.
You should have some previous experience with glass.

What does the course cover

In your first session We’ll find sources to design your own and personal piece of glass work.
We’ll choose and modify your design, enlarge it to create your full-size pattern and make the creative decisions to select your glass.
In successive sessions you will receive instruction to improve your glass cutting and soldering skills, learn reinforcement techniques, and plan for framing or installation of the completed project.

Classes are led by Arts Education Tutor Poppy Richards who works across a number of arts organisations across Edinburgh including National Galleries of Scotland and Jupiter Artland in school engagement roles. Poppy has a working knowledge of child protection and a full PVG disclosure.

PILATES 4 ALL by Clare Shillinglaw

I run fun and friendly Pilates classes held in the Drawing Room, 3rd Floor on Tuesday evenings 5-6pm.

Pilates is amazing for improving posture, balance, flexibility and easing any muscle and joint niggles. Regular practice can help you build long and lean muscle, strengthen the core from within and relax the mind. It is suitable for a wide range of people, from beginners to professional sportspeople, and including pregnant women and seniors so please come along!

Silver jewellery making for beginners

This course is 10 weeks long, 2 hours a week and will introduce basic jewellery making techniques to the complete beginner.

Silver jewellery making for beginners. 4 week taster sessions

These short courses are 4 weeks long, 2 hours a week and will introduce basic jewellery making techniques to the complete beginner.
I will teach new skills using copper and silver, demonstrating techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering, roll printing, stamping and finishing metals.
This course will be broken down into a series of simple projects where you can make a silver ring, a pendant or a pair of earrings/cufflinks.
Materials for the projects will be available to purchase in the class.
This is a relaxed and friendly class with a maximum of 8 students.
