News Events & Exhibitions Edinburgh Palette is Looking for New Trustees

Are you interested in helping a dynamic arts charity spread its wings? Have a passion for all things art, and a background in the arts and arts management? Edinburgh Palette is looking for a talented trustee to join our board and attend regular meetings at St Margaret’s House.

For those of you who don’t know, Edinburgh Palette is based at St Margaret’s House in Edinburgh’s Meadowbank area. The charity provides quality, affordable studios and gallery space to more than 350 artists and art organisations.

The Edinburgh Palette objectives are;
– To create a financially viable spaces for artistic communities in the UK, which captivate the public imagination and inspire creativity, innovation and sustainability among its stakeholders.
– To nurture and support emerging artists, creative industries and community groups involved in the arts and art therapy;
– To benefit the communities we serve, reaching out to local communities through exhibitions, arts education events and participatory projects;
– To establish itself as a major player in the Scottish, UK and International cultural sector;
-To develop our economically robust business model, expanding to meet opportunities and demand in other areas of the UK.

A Trustee’s role is to;
– Act in the interests of the organisation
– Contribute to Edinburgh Palette development and success
– Ensure that Edinburgh Palette operates in a manner consistent with its objectives and compliant with the Code of Conduct for trustees.
– Maintain general overall control of the charity.
– Ensure that Edinburgh Palette is administered effectively, complies with relevant laws and is able to account for its activities and outcomes to OSCR, Companies House and the public.
– To act as positive advocate and ambassadors for Edinburgh Palette

These are voluntary positions. Out of pocket expenses and any associated training costs will be paid by Edinburgh Palette.

We are looking for someone who;

– Is enthusiastic about the arts and supporting artists in exciting and thriving environments
– Is able and willing to reliably attend monthly Board meetings undertaking work to support the Edinburgh Palette and Board between meetings
– Has the knowledge, skills and experience needed to enable the Edinburgh Palette to expand and develop its interests and business opportunities.
