As our lives are interconnected, so are the faces in this series of woodcuts.
Some are of people I know and some are based on faces in Classical Art.
We are all rooted in our backgrounds and therefore in our memories. The past few years have been a time of introspection and also a time of looking out at the changing world. We look out at the world and the world is literally within the mind of our complex identity.
Using mixed media, oil paint and collage, I have added layers to the woodcuts, that tell a story.
The words and letters are symbolic.
Paintings Watercolour, oils, wax, salt and collage on Japanese papers, inspired by a trip to the Faroes and Iceland in 2020. These works shall include on site drawings of the coastal paths of Cockenzie and the former saltpans of Prestonpans for a larger collaborative project at the end of the year.
