Fronteiras Theatre Lab is a Scottish-based theatre company dedicated to producing and promoting transcultural work. ‘La Niña Barro’ is our latest show, created in 2014 in partnership with Spanish company A Poc A Poc Teatre i Musica.
Since it opened at the Edinburgh Fringe 2014, it has been performed at a number of venues and festivals around Spain and we would like to take the piece further.
We have been invited to present it at Perimetral, an international theatre showcase in Uruguay in September 2015, alongside artists from Uruguay, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico. The organisers provide accommodation, food, and insurance, we only need the cash to pay for the return flights for our 2 performers and 1 technician.
‘La Niña Barro’ is based on a collection of poems, so in order to help raise the money for flights, our director Flav will sit in Costa Café & Bistro in Santana do Livramento, in the Brazil-Uruguay border, and read poems out loud in the three languages she can speak for 24 hours straight. This will be streamed live from 13:00 (GMT) on 10th July (link tbc). In addition to donating, you might request poems in English, Spanish or Portuguese to be read.
