It’s Champers for Charlie as Iglu Scoops Top Award!

Last week Iglu, a top Edinburgh restaurant, run by Charlie Cornelius (of studio 4.29), won a top sustainability awarded by Raymond Blanc no less! To celebrate they are giving away some bubbly…

Scottish Sustainable Restaurant of the Year 2014!

Charlie has worked hard for 10 years to make Iglu as sustainable as possible by sourcing ingredients that have as positive an impact as possible on society, local jobs, environment and animal welfare.

Last year they were runner up to River Cottage in the sourcing category but they clinched the highest award in Scotland. Amongst other things they have been working with suppliers via Organic Scotland, the local community via Edible Edinburgh and by sourcing as much as possible via social enterprises such as Cyrenian’s Farm, Engine Shed and Loch Arthur Community dairy. They also provide plenty of veggie options to reduce meat consumption.

To celebrate their success they are including a glass of bubbly when you buy a main course! Just book online and in the special requests box write ‘celebrate with bubbly!’ The offer runs for a month, excluding Saturday evenings.

Artists’ BookMarket 2014

Some of the St Mag’s tenants will be contributing to this years Artists’ BookMarket on the 1st March 2014. The event will take place at the Fruitmarket Gallery…

They’re welcoming new voices to join with favourite previous guests to present their work. This year, there’s a lean towards some of the most interesting artist-led publishing with the likes of Book Works, Riding House and Fillip Magazine joining us. We’re also welcoming some of the most exciting younger groups of artists working in book form, with energetic collectives like Commingle Press, Kalopsia and a second visit from ECA’s prodigious illustration department.

You can take part in a workshop with famed course-leader Rachel Hazell and hear talks throughout the day from artists’ books figures discussing their work. And of course, browse and buy from the stalls, more of them this year than ever before.
