News Business as usual at St margaret’s House

On Sunday the 25th and Monday the 26th of February we held three successful residents meetings. On the agenda – updates on the sale of St Margaret’s House from the arts community office. They were well attended and we’ve got some great feedback from those who came. This is just the first of many meetings we will host and we will keep you informed of all developments happening.

Arts and Community Director, Sophia Burns, gave an overview of what had happened and what we currently know about the situation and what is still to be determined. Communications Officer, Johanna Crossley-Zels stressed the importance of the questionnaire that has been sent out to Edinburgh Palette residents and how this helps us organise the outpouring of support we have been receiving. Finally Iyo Irabor introduced the Centre for Community Resilience and the Arts as an example of what this transition could mean and how we can take advantage of new opportunities, as well as the proposal to run a resilience festival in September.

We will be working step by step to ensure that we find a sustainable solution for the community currently based at St Margaret’s House in our move forward, making realistic proposals based on the needs of our residents, partners and supporters. The questionnaire we sent to residents will be instrumental in assessing the individual investments that have been made to the studios, what impact being a part of Edinburgh Palette has meant to our residents and we are looking for testimonials from those that have been attending workshops, classes, events and exhibitions to create a case for support. If you would like to tell us your story, please get in touch via our dedicated email movingforward@edinburghpalette.co.uk.

Every email that goes to the above email address is read and if you have any questions or messages of support, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Best wishes from the Arts Community Team,
Sophia, Cécile and Johanna
