St Margaret’s House Tenants Interviews, The University of Edinburgh

My name is Coll and I’m 4th year Architecture student at the University of Edinburgh and am currently researching for my dissertation which explores secondary use of buildings. St Margaret’s House is an incredible example of utilising a space and creating a thriving economy out of a forgotten building.

The strength, to me, lies in its huge diversity of tenants. I hope to document and understand the nature of the spaces that you all have and your stories and experiences at St Margaret’s House. To do this, I would love to have a chat with you about your experience here and document the space you are currently in, both through a few photographs and, if possible, a 3D LIDAR scan of the room – I’m doing this to get a cross section of the community here in as rich a way as possible. This is by no means prescriptive and I am happy to work with you to best get the information I’m looking for, I also understand that time is precious and so I will make sure to be as quick as possible in chatting and getting the photos/scans, around 30-45 minutes tops!

If you are interested in being involved then please get in touch, my contact details are:

West Shore Road Open Day

We are hosting an Open Doors event on Saturday 16 October from 10am – 2pm at our new site located at 20 West Shore Road. We would like to warmly invite all to come and see the space and meet the team.

Edinburgh Palette Open Doors Event

20 West Shore Road, EH5 1QD

Saturday 16 October, 10am – 2pm

All welcome.

The project will provide affordable shop space for local retail and hospitality businesses, animating the pedestrian promenade. It will also support the creative industries, the third sector, freelancers and micro-businesses, providing sought after high-quality studio and office space. When developed the building’s grounds will greatly enhance the public realm and greenspace in the area and will support active travel to and through the site. Other activities planned are play-based recreation and cultural events and the project will also provide improved access to the waterfront. Come down and meet the team to find out more!
