Welcome Ibon – our newest intern!

IbonHi!

I’m Ibon and I’m a recent graduate Graphic Designer. I come from a town in the coast near Bilbao, in the Basque Country (north of Spain). I feel I’m more productive working with music and bad weather, but I love the sunny weekends to disconnect and feel free to do anything. I’m currently working as an intern in the Arts & Communities Ofiice here at the St Margaret’s House, helping to create content that focuses on Graphic Design and some other stuff. To get to know a bit more about me…

A song: Itoiz – Elurretan
A place in Edinburgh: Arthur’s Seat

Updates on the container project

As many of you may know, Edinburgh Palette has been drafting plans for a container project over the last year and a half. Originally, the plan included a prototype container village at St Margaret’s House, however, with the sale of the building ahead of us, we’ve been back to the drawing board.

With the assistance of the council, we have just signed a 6-month lease of an acre of land in Portobello to develop the container project idea. On this land we will be renovating and converting containers into artist studios and community spaces as well as clearing and improving the land and space. This will act as a “seed” for a much larger concept that can be replicated at other sites.

At the end of the 6 month lease period, we will be competing for the lease of a total of 2 acres of land at this site. Should we be successful in securing this space, it will enable us to create a sustainable village of artist studios, workshops and community spaces.

Dale Gibson, CEO of Edinburgh Palette, also would like all residents to know that his door is always open and anyone wanting to discuss developments at other sites are very welcome to pop in to see him.

Showcasing opportunity at JFK South Clerk Street

Salon Hair by JFKHair by JFK are soon to open a brand new salon on South Clerk Street, Edinburgh. Like their Bruntsfield salon, Hair by JFK want their new South Clerk Street salon to be unique and stand out from other salons in the area with their décor and funky, edgy vibe.

Hair by JFK regularly get involved with artists in the area and like to showcase artists and art students work downstairs in their gallery in the Bruntsfield salon. They would like to continue to share artists work in their new South Clerk Street salon and have space in the salons shop winning for a sculpture to be showcased.

They are looking for anything a bit whacky and are even happy to include a moving sculpture/object or sculpture/object with lights that will be constantly remain in their salon window.

you have something that you would like to be showcased in the new salons window and think would be the perfect fit, or would like some further information, please contact Alex at alex@ajc93.com
