Sale of St Margaret’s House

The news on Monday regarding the sale of St Margaret’s House was no doubt a surprise to many of you. It will be a time for reflection and taking stock of what it means for your organisation, business and practice. We have been working on contingency plans for this very scenario for several months and had hoped to share our plans with you before the need to implement became a reality.

Due to the planning underway, we view the sale of St Margaret’s House as an opportunity and will focus on strengthening our community throughout the 18 month transition.

Our location will change, but our purpose will remain the same – to build vibrant communities of makers, artists, community groups and creative enterprises.

We are committed to thriving during and after this transition. This requires a unique mix of optimism and pragmatism. We are counting on your questions to aid us in finding the best solutions for our community. We are counting on your positivity as we embrace change and endeavour to move forward in a new direction.

To keep the lines of communication open, we have created a dedicated email – movingforward@edinburghpalette.co.uk. Here you can share your visions, send ideas, share contacts of people or resources, or positive notes of encouragement.

We will reach out over the next few weeks to share the various options and plans for the future of Edinburgh Palette, as well as creating a discussion group and organising a few meetings to make this transition easier for all.

St Margaret’s House has been a second home to many since it first started. So many amazing people have made it an inspiring and dynamic project, space and place to be a part of.

This is a sad day for all of us, and the team at St Margaret’s House sends you all the strength and determination needed to ensure Edinburgh Palette continues to grow and flourish.

More than ever, we need to believe that it is possible to safeguard the values of a community that favours the arts, culture, creativity, collaboration, share & care.

You can find the press release from the Drum Property Group about the proposed sale via this link: https://www.edinburghpalette.co.uk/proposed-sale-st-margarets-house/

Please share this information within your collective, organisation or with your studio colleagues.

Yours,
The Edinburgh Palette team
