Coburg House Gallery, 15 Coburg Street, Edinburgh, EH6 6ET
Salvage is an exhibition of recent work by artist jeweller, Eleanor Symms and abstract painter, Alan Chapman. Both share an experimental approach to their work, collecting and responding to discarded, or ‘found’ materials.
Eleanor Symms’s highly original and very wearable jewellery combines reclaimed plastics with precious materials, challenging our perceptions of preciousness and disposability.
Alan Chapman is an Edinburgh-based painter and printmaker whose work combines painting, collage and printmaking techniques to produce sheets of pure colour. The works in Salvage are the latest in a series of paintings, which he began in 2014, exploring disparate forms coming together and drifting apart.
Exhibition open 11 am – 4 pm on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September and Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th September
Meet the artists, Sunday 3rd and Sunday 10th September, 2-3.30 pm

Our courses in yoga, meditation and reiki are designed to empower women with ‘self-care’ tools that give them greater connection with themselves, greater control over their emotions and the confidence to use the skills independently.
We are nearing the end of our first 8 week courses and the women who have attended said:
The yoga teacher is something special
Thank so much for teaching me meditation and Reiki. You are a big inspiration to me.. making a big difference in my, and other women’s, lives.
The meditation course has changed my life!
We are running 3 more series of the courses in Autumn, Winter and Spring with dates as more

I have a two window studio, on the sixth floor (south facing) and am looking for someone who would like to share the space. I use the space for drawing and painting on weekdays 9-4pm (Fridays only until midday), so it would be ideal for someone who would like the space for evenings and weekends. £115 per month. Available from end of September.
This year we’re setting the precedent of superb sound and high-calibre acts.
Van Tastik opens the festival in Finnegan’s Wake, while The Jellyman’s Daughter and Cow Cow Boogie step up to our Grassmarket Square outdoor stage. St Margaret’s House resident band the Jennifer Ewan band, who currently have a series of gigs on at the fringe at the Montebar, will also be playing the outdoor stage on the Saturday.
UpMo is proud to be partnering with Edinburgh Leisure, and is now set to open a new YoYo Cafe within the Leith Victoria Swim Centre!
Like the YoYo Cafe at St Margaret’s House, this will be a work experience cafe, giving students the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of running a cafe — from preparing and serving food, to taking orders, to operating the till. The new YoYo Café will launch on the 28th of August – we can’t wait! Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter for updates! more
