Henry Fraser visits Lorna’s Art Class

Dear all,

henry-fraserLast session we looked at the work of Henry Fraser, an Edinburgh based artist, currently working out of Edinburgh Palette. Known for his pared down and abstracted figures or portraits, Henry tries to convey the mystery and transience of the human conditions, making the invisible, visible.

Having prepared a canvas with a base layer of paint the mini artists used Henry’s paintings and their own faces as a starting point. (Looking in the mirrors and giggling lots!) After getting some ideas down in pencil they used oil pastels to blend colours and try and capture something of themselves. Then in a wonderful moment of serendipity Henry was just walking past and popped in to see what the children were doing. I do believe he rather liked what he saw!

Enjoy half term and pop into the open studio event on 22nd/23rd October, where there are lots of free activities for adults & kids.
