sports legA final round of funding from the £1 million Legacy 2014: Sustainable Sport for Communities Fund, is now available after the first 21 beneficiaries were announced last month. The £1m fund supports the sustainability and capacity of aspiring and existing social enterprises delivering sport and physical activity in communities across Scotland.

Over £200,000 remains available for Third Sector organisations looking to develop facilities for use by their local communities. The fund was created with investment from the Scottish Government and The Robertson Trust, and is delivered by these organisations in partnership with Social Investment Scotland, sportscotland and Senscot.

Funding, through this final round of funding, is available to help clubs and organisations meet the costs of investigating and developing their ideas. This could include:

  • Community consultation and engagement
  • Needs analysis and feasibility study
  • Support with organisational development
  • Technical support in the form of architect/design fees/surveyors costs
  • Legal and financial support

The Sustainable Sport for Communities Fund is made up of an investment of £500,000 from the Scottish Government and £500,000 from The Robertson Trust.
