  1. “Anyone can adopt a child – right?” Scottish Adoption Agency

Monday 15th February
11am – 2pm
St Margaret’s House (G5)

We are working with Scottish Adoption to help them understand the public perception of adoption in Scotland. We are hosting a fun, interactive workshop for people to share their thoughts in a friendly and relaxed way.

We would be especially delighted to hear from anyone that has never thought about adoption before.

Just come along or if you would like to find out more, please email: sa.research.team@peopleknowhow.org

  1. “Why would I want to join the digital revolution?” Ragged University / Alex Dunedin

Monday 15th February
2.30 – 4.30pm
St Margaret’s House (G5)

You are invited along to the Annual General Gathering of the Ragged University to take part in discussion about the project, where it has been and where it is going.  Started in 2010, since then, hundreds of free events have been organised in several cities.

Now active in Edinburgh and Manchester, the project needs feedback and input from people who are interested in helping ensure that more free social learning events go on.

This is also, the launch of a collaborative project with People Know How (an Edinburgh based charity) as we work together to bring communities a Mobile Digital Classroom (come along and try it out!)

Come along at 2.30pm for:

  • A look back at the past five years of activities
  • A question and answer session to help develop the
  • FAQ section of the new website
  • The official launch of the brand new Ragged University website
  • To test out the brand new mobile computer classroom that will be used this year
  • Introduce People Know How and the Mobile Digital Classroom

Refreshments will be provided and all your questions about the project will be addressed.  “I really need to hear your feedback and find as much support for the future as possible. Whether it is simply telling me what you have enjoyed and what you think needs re-thought, please do come along or get in touch so that the whole project can get better”, Alex Dunedin.

  1. “Do you know your brown field site from your green belt?” Cockburn Association

Monday 15th February
11am-2.00pm
St. Margaret’s house (G25)

We are working with The Cockburn Association to find out how the Edinburgh residents want the city to be developed.

We want to know your opinions on where and how housing should be developed.

Please come and share your opinions and make your voice heard!

  1. “Remember with THELMA – the power of memory!” The Living Memory Association

The Pop-up Shop of Memory

Monday 15 February
2.30pm – 4.30pm
Ground Floor Lobby (G25), St Margaret’s House

Bring an item and share a memory!

We’re inviting you to lend us an object that holds a special memory for you and share your story by jotting it down on a piece of paper (a few sentences will do).  We’ll display the items and post the most original, surprising, humorous or thought-provoking stories on our ‘Memory Board’ on the day.

This memory exchange will celebrate the work of The Living Memory Association (THELMA), an Edinburgh-based charity that uses reminiscence to promote a vibrant sense of community.  Their ‘Little Shop of Memory’ in Ocean Terminal is a treasure trove of objects that have triggered a sharing of stories by people of all ages.

We’re working with THELMA to plan an exciting range of future workshops and activities – from arts & crafts through to music and poetry to promote a sharing of skills and experiences.  If you’re interested in contributing in any way, let us know, so we can keep you updated!
