Workshops Fitness and Health Contact Improvisation Jam

Contact Improvisation Jam
Sunday 11 October 2015 3:00pm - 6:00pm
St Margaret's House
Jam is a creative space for seeking what is possible in Contact Improvisation Dance. We start with a warm up which leads us to an open jam, where individual movement explorations starts to intertwine and create a common landscape of moving bodies. All ages and levels welcome!

Contact Improvisation form was founded 1972 by Steve Paxton. It is a physical dialogue, in which movers propel movement by touch, gravity, shared weight and momentum. Dance fine tunes your senses and wakes up your ability to listen and respond to what is happening in the moment. Dancers are moving in and out of physical contact while rolling, spiraling, falling and sliding. Dancers are connected to themselves and others by sensing and listening, mutually supporting and following each others movements. When body and mind are united, we start to honor every moment in connectivity and surrender to the unknown.
